UB Wrestlers Place in Tournament

BUFFALO, NY- The UB wrestling team had some individuals finish well at the Wilkes Open this past weekend. It was an open meet with no team scoring ,but several Bulls finished at the top of their respective weight classes.

Brian Schaal (Attica, NY/Alexander) finished second at 125 pounds. Schaal finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, winning twice by fall and once by technical fall. Jacob Schaus (Falconer, NY/Falconer) also finished second, losing a close 3-2 decision in the championship at 174 pounds. Schaus won his first meet by fall and went 4-1 in the tournament as well.

John Eschenfelder (N. Syracuse, NY/Cicero) was the third Bulls wrestler to take second place, losing by a tie breaker in the championship match of the heavyweight division. Eschenfelder dominated his opponents in decision wins, going 3-1 in the tournament. Josh States (Lockport, NY/Lockport) took third place at 197 pounds, rounding out the top finishers for UB. States allowed his opponents to score just one point against him in the tournament, finishing at 4-1.
