UB Wrestlers Slam EaglesBUFFALO, NY- The UB wrestling team dominated Eastern Michigan University in a Tuesday afternoon meet at Alumni Arena. The Bulls won nine of the ten weight classes for the 35-3 victory, winning their fifth straight dual meet.
UB (5-3, 3-1) got off to a great start as Gary Cooper (Adams, NY/Jefferson) wrestled the first match of the day at 165-pounds, taking a technical fall win. John Eschenfelder (N. Syracuse, NY/Cicero) got the only fall of the day at heavyweight, as he pinned EMU's Pat Herriman at the 1:57 mark. The Bulls Bill Jacoutot (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport), wrestled with an injured ankle, but fought through the pain and got a late takedown for a 7-5 win at 141-pounds.
The Bulls captured their fifth straight dual meet win after starting the season with three straight losses. UB also improved to 3-1 in Mid-American Conference meets.
Next up for UB are two non-conference meets this upcoming weekend. The Bulls wrestle at Seton Hall on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 3 pm and then face Bucknell on Satuday at 5 pm. Next home action for UB will be on Tuesday, Feb. 9, versus Slippery Rock University. |
