Michael Inducted Into Hall of FameBUFFALO, NY - Former University at Buffalo wrestling coach Ed Michael was recently inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, OK, with a Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award. This award is given annually to coaches and contributors who have given a lifetime of service to wrestling in their communities and to the young people they have coached, taught, motivated and inspired. Michael, a native of Ithaca, NY, is the all-time winningest coach in UB history, with a career record of 213-106-3 in 21 seasons has head coach. His 1973-74 team finished with a school best 22-1 record. In 1977-78, Michael led the Bulls to the NCAA Division III National Championship, the only NCAA Championship for UB in any sport. In addition to that NCAA Championship, he led the Bulls to seven New York State Collegiate Championships as well. During his career, Michael won seven Coach of the Year awards by various organizations. He also received a 25-Year Service Award and a 200-wins Award from the National Wrestling Coaches Association. He is already inducted into the NJCAA Region III Hall of Fame, the New York State Collegiate Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame, the Ithaca College Sports Hall of Fame and the University at Buffalo Athletic Hall of Fame. |
