Cerminara Named MAC Wrestler of the WeekCLEVELAND, OH - On Tuesday, UB junior Kyle Cerminara (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) was named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week for his efforts between December 8th and 14th.
All told, Cerminara compiled 11 takedowns, one two-point near fall, two three-point near falls, one reversal, two escapes and three riding time points in his three matches. He also kept his perfect dual meet record (8-0) in tact, while moving to 16-2 overall. Cerminara - whose 16 overall wins are first nationally within the 197-pound weight class - is also receiving national recognition. He is ranked 12th in his weight class in The Amateur Wrestling News' latest individual rankings, while Intermat has him ranked 16th at 197 pounds in their latest rankings. This is the second MAC Wrestler of the Week honor received by a Bulls' wrestler this season. Freshman Mark McKnight (McDonald, PA/South Fayette) was awarded the honor for his efforts between November 17th and 23rd. Buffalo, which is off to an 8-0 start for the first time since the 1974-75 season, returns to
action this Friday at the Beast of the East Collegiate Classic hosted by the University of Delaware. |
