BUFFALO, NY – The Mid-American Conference office announced today that University at Buffalo senior Dana Gingerich (Spring Grove, PA/Deleon Catholic) was named MAC Wrestler of the Week. Last weekend, Gingerich took home second place in the 149 pound weight class at the Body Bar Invitational.

Gingerich entered the Body Bar Invitational as the fourth seed and compiled a 3-1 record on his way to a second place finish. He opened the Body Bar with a win via pinfall over Steve Fehnel of Maryland at 1:42. In the quarterfinals, Gingerich defeated fifth-seeded Joe Ciampoli of Pittsburgh by a 6-2 decision. Gingerich put on a dominating display in the semifinals, defeating Kyle Bub of Drexel by a score of 19-7. In the final, Gingerich fell to third-seeded Eric Medina of Maryland by an 8-2 decision.

It was the third-straight tournament in which Gingerich has placed this season. Gingerich took home third place at the season-opening UB Open and then took second at the Oklahoma Gold Classic, falling in the final to Will Rowe of Oklahoma, the 12th-ranked 149 pound wrestler in the nation. Gingerich has an overall record of 12-3 this season.

Gingerich and the rest of the Bulls continue the 2007-08 season this Saturday, November 24 when they travel to Lock Haven, Pennsylvania to compete in the Mat Town Open.
