Buffalo Wrestling Signs Pair Of Top Recruits

Mickey Moran and Scott Rendos sign National Letters of Intent to wrestle at UB

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo head wrestling coach Jim Beichner announced on Wednesday that Mickey Moran (Shaler, PA/Shaler) and Scott Rendos (Brockway, PA/Brockway) have each signed letters of intent to wrestle for UB next year. Both wrestlers are listed in Intermat's Top 200 Recruits of 2004-05.

Moran - who is projected to wrestle collegiately at 165 or 174 pounds - already has over 100 high school victories. He placed third in his weight class as a junior in the 2003 Pennsylvania State High School Championships. He is also ranked 11th at 171 pounds in Wrestling USA Magazine's Nation's Best 2004 High School Wrestlers.

"Pennsylvania may be the toughest state to wrestle in throughout the country," Beichner said. "So when you finish in the top three in that state, you are definitely a high-level wrestler. Mickey works tremendously hard and fits the mold we have on this team with a blue-collar, hard-working attitude."

Rendos went 40-0 as a junior on his way to a 2003 Pennsylvania State High School Championship. He is ranked in the top eight of Intermat's Top 2004-05 Recruits at 152 pounds. Collegiately, he will wrestle at either 149 or 157 pounds. Like Moran, Rendos also has over 100 victories in his high school career.

"Scott is currently one of the winningest wrestlers in the Class of 2004," said Beichner. "Anytime you bring in a kid like that - who knows how to win - you know that he will turn out to be a solid wrestler. He also has an incredible work ethic."
