BUFFALO, NY - Two one-point matches turned out to be the difference on Thursday evening at Alumni Arena, as the University at Buffalo wrestling team fell to Bloomsburg University, 21-9, in non-conference dual meet action.

Buffalo (0-1 overall) started the meet strong as sophomore Mark McKnight (McDonald, PA/South Fayette) picked up a 4-1 decision over Mike Anderson at 125 pounds. Freshman Dana Gingerich (Spring Grove, PA/DeLone Catholic) took an 8-4 decision from George Hickman at 141 pounds to help Buffalo to a 6-3 lead after three matches.

However, at 149 pounds and 157 pounds, both sophomore Pat Lloyd (Middletown, NY/Valley Central) and freshman Scott Rendos (Brockway, PA/Brockway) each dropped one-point matches, helping Bloomsburg to take a 9-6 lead in the match.

The Huskies (1-1 overall) got a continued strong performance from their upperweights, as James Bertulis, Bryce Hasseman, Nate Shirk and Chad Hoare each posted wins against the Bulls. Bertulis, Hasseman and Hoare all placed at Saturday's Oklahoma Gold Classic also.

At heavyweight, sophomore Jeff Parker (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) posted a 7-5 overtime victory when he registered a two-point takedown in the first extra session against Mike Spaid, to cap off the three-win performance by the Bulls.

UB will next be in action after the Thanksgiving Holiday, as it travels to Lock Haven University for the Mat Town USA Invitational on Nov. 27 at 9:00 am.
