Bulls Win Pair at Davidson Duals UB wrestlers open dual meet schedule in North
Carolina
UB fell to Duke, 23-15, to open the day. The Bulls then rebounded to defeat Campbell (35-3) and Davidson (31-6) to open the dual meet portion of the schedule. Against the Blue Devils, UB won three of the first four matches, including two by major decision. Kevin Smith and Andrew Stella each picked up four-point major victories. Desi Green then followed with a win over Duke's Daniel Adamo in the 149-pound match. However, the Blue Devils rallied for five wins in the next six matches to take the match.
In the match with the host Wildcats, UB again cruised to eight wins in 10 bouts. Freshman Brett Correll won the 285-pound match by fall over Charlie Wolff in 2:44, with Green, John-Martin Cannon, Ron Majerus and Jimmy Hamel taking major decisions. Smith, Green and Hamel won all three of their matches on the day. The Bulls remain in North Carolina for dual matches at Appalachian State on Sunday. UB will face the host Mountaineers at 12:00 pm, followed by Spartanburg Methodist at 1:30 pm. 11/15/2008
