Newill Added To Wrestling StaffBUFFALO, NY - Brandon Newill, the 2002 Division II national champion at 125 pounds, has joined the University at Buffalo wrestling staff under head coach Jim Beichner.
After transferring to Pitt-Johnstown, Newill earned Division II All-American status for three straight seasons, culminating in claiming the NCAA Division II national title at 125 pounds. In claiming the national championship, he became just the sixth wrestler in Pitt-Johnstown history to achieve that honor. Over the past four summers, Newill has been gathering experience as a coach at the Rob Wallers All-American Wrestling camps. He also worked as a technician at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown summer camps three years in a row and has instructed the youth of his hometown area in Mt. Pleasant, PA. "We are very excited to have a wrestler of Brandon's stature join our program," said
Beichner, who enters his eighth season with a 67-39-2 record. "His work ethic and desire will be an asset to
our entire program and he should prove to be a great technician for our lightweight group." |
