UB All-American Wins Canada Cup, Now Heads To Olympic Facilities
Since his graduation this past May, Cerminara won the 212-pound weight class at the 2006 Canada Cup on July 8, a tournament he finished third in last year. Cerminara, representing the New York Athletic Conference, beat Mike Neufeld of Canada for the victory. Off the success of the Canada Cup, Cerminara heads to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO where he will train and fight for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team when it competes in Bejing, China in 2008. While at the training facility, Cerminara will be put on a strict training schedule, where he will have two workouts per day for two days in a row before having the third day off. "I'm excited to be continuing my wrestling career," said Cerminara. "I have some great opportunities ahead of me and I am going to work as hard as I can to be the best." While at UB, Cerminara began his final season on a 34-match winning streak, which included a first-place finish at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Overall, Cerminara finished his senior season with a 39-4 record and was the winner of every tournament he competed in throughout the season, before finishing second at the MAC Championships. Cerminara left Buffalo with a career record of 137-35 (.796), which is sixth all-time for the Bulls. |
