BUFFALO, NY - On Thursday afternoon, the University at Buffalo announced the signings of transfers Derman Lewis (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) and Jeff Parker (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro). Both student-athletes formerly wrestled at Binghamton, which dropped its wrestling program following the 2003-04 season.

Lewis, who will be a sophomore, redshirted last season. During his freshman year, he compiled an 11-18 overall mark, including a 10-12 record in dual meets. He is expected to compete at the 197-pound weight class for the Bulls.

"Derman certainly can step in right way for us," said UB assistant coach Josh Koscheck. "He can make an immediate impact, as well as one down the road for us."

Parker, who will also be a sophomore, went 9-18 overall and 5-12 in dual meets last season. He will wrestle as a heavyweight for the Bulls, reuniting with former high school teammate Mike Ragusa (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) on the UB roster.

"Jeff is a big, strong kid that may compete immediately for us," said Koscheck. "We really believe he can step in and instantly make a difference. Like Derman, Jeff is a hard worker and has a lot of talent."

Lewis and Parker join freshmen Mickey Moran (Shaler, PA/Shaler), Scott Rendos (Brockway, PA/Brockway), Mark Throckmorton (Waynesburg, PA/Waynesburg), Nate Rock (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) and Kevin Rosplock (Cassadaga, NY/Cassadaga Valley) as newcomers to the UB wrestling program for the 2004-05 season.
