Beichner, McKnight Given AwardsBUFFALO, NY - Buffalo wrestling head coach Jim Beichner and freshman 125-pounder Mark McKnight (McDonald, PA/South Fayette) each received awards from the New York State Collegiate Wrestling Coaches Association on Thursday. Beichner was named Coach of the Year by the organization, while McKnight garnered Freshman of the Year honors. Beichner, who has a career record of 88-50-2 as a head coach, also earned New York State Collegiate Wrestling Coaches Association Coach of the Year honors in 1996. During his nine seasons at UB, he has coached UB wrestlers into the NCAA Championships on 22 occasions. This year, he helped Kyle Cerminara (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) to become the school's first-ever male Division I All-American.
Along with honoring Beichner and McKnight, the New York State Collegiate Wrestling
Coaches Association also named Brockport's Artie Weidler as its Wrestler of the Year. |
