Bulls Wrestling Announces Signees

Cerminara and Forte Sign Letters of Intent

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo wrestling team announced the signing of two recruits for next season. UB has received letters of intent from Kyle Cerminara (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) and Troy Forte (Pittsford, NY/Mendon), as announced by assistant coach Sean Gibbs.

Both wrestlers leave behind impressive high school careers, qualifying for the New York State Championships on numerous occasions and both leaving as 2001 NYS Champions in their respective weight class.

Cerminara, a 6'1'' 189-pound senior was the 2001 NYS Champion at 189 pounds. He was a Section 6 Champion in 2001 and 2000. He was also a four-time qualifier and place-finisher at the NYS Championships. Most recently, Cerminara finished fifth at the National High School Senior Championships.

"Kyle will be a great addition for us this year," said Gibbs, UB's recruiting coordinator. "We are losing guys at the upper weights, so he will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact. He's a good local wrestler and we made it a point to attract and retain some of the local guys. He has a tremendous work ethic which should make him successful on this level."

Forte, a 5'8'' 125-pound senior finished his high school career with a 236-22 career record. He was the 2001 NYS champ at 125 pounds and went a perfect 42-0 during his senior year. He was a three-time county champion and a three-time Section 5 champion. In 1998 and 2000, he finished third at the NYS Championships.

"Troy is a very good wrestler from a technical standpoint," said Gibbs. "He knows how to perform and compete at the high level. During the off-season he competes in numerous tournaments and competitions this shows his dedication level and his desire to improve. He will be a strong addition to the bottom part of our lineup."

Both student-athletes will be attending UB in the fall.
