Jeff Parker Named to Academic All-MAC Team

Senior heavyweight recognized for his outstanding work both on and off the mat

BUFFALO, NY – The Mid-American Conference has announced the 2008 Wrestling Academic All-MAC team and Buffalo senior Jeff Parker (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) was one of the ten wrestlers selected to the team, as voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives.

Parker, an environmental design major, carries a 3.27 GPA. He posted a 27-15 record this season, 11-6 in dual meets, wrestling in the 285-pound weight class. Parker was a co-captain for the Bulls this season and finished third at the MAC Championships. He also placed in the top four in three other tournaments this season, finishing second at the UB Open, third at the Mat Town Tournament and fourth at the New York State Intercollegiate Championships. Parker is also the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's 2007-08 Athletes-for-Athletes Officer.

To qualify for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their team. First-year students and transfers in their first year are not eligible for the award.
