Ragusa Named to Academic All-MAC Team

165-pounder honored with prestigious award for second straight year

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo junior Mike Ragusa (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) was honored by the Mid-American Conference by being named to the Academic All-MAC Team, as voted upon by the league's faculty athletic representatives. Ragusa was one of 11 wrestlers in the conference to land on the team, and was the second consecutive year in which the 165-pounder earned the team spot.

Finishing the season with an 18-17 record, Ragusa was one of three grapplers to have started in every dual meet for the Bulls. He started the season with a 10-3 record entering the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 1, garnering national recognition by WrestlingReport.com being ranked 29th. He also earned a top five placing in four of five tournaments this season, including top honors at the UB Open on Nov. 5 and a runner-up placing at the Mat Town USA Invitational on Nov. 25.

Ragusa is a communications major with an overall GPA of 3.20. He is the first wrestler to be named on the Academic All-MAC team in back-to-back seasons in school history.
