Green, Rock, Moran and Hamel to Compete in
Nationals
Ties program mark set in 2001 for most NCAA
qualifiers in a season since joining the MAC

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo wrestling team will be
represented by
Nate
Rock,
Mickey
Moran,
Jimmy
Hamel and 18th nationally-ranked
Desi
Green at the 2009 NCAA National Championships in St. Louis, MO on
March 19-21. With four wrestlers bound for St. Louis, this ties
the program mark set in 2001 for most NCAA qualifiers in a season
since joining the Mid-American Conference in 1998.

At the MAC Championships on March 7-8 at Eastern Michigan University,
the Bulls finished fourth in team standings with Green, Rock, Moran and
Hamel each finishing in the top three of their respective weight
classes. Green at 149, Rock at 174 and Hamel at 197 each placed second
and at 184, Moran placed third.

Green, Rock, Moran and Hamel join a list of 18 Bulls who have qualified
for the national championships under the leadership of head coach Jim
Beichner with six Bulls qualifying twice. In 2001, the Bulls set the
program mark for most NCAA qualifiers in a season by sending John
Eschenfelder, Dave Guarino, Shawn Kegel and Josh States to the national
championships.

The opening session of the 2009 NCAA National Championships is set to
begin on Thursday, March 19 at 11 am. There will be six total sessions
with the sixth and final session scheduled for Saturday, March 21 at
5:30 pm.
