VESTAL, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling squad ended its five-match losing streak Saturday night, bucking the Binghmaton Bearcats at their home mat, 22-18. With the win, the Bulls finish the season above .500, as senior captain Mark Budd (Orrville, OH/Orrville) provided the heroics by scoring a technical fall to claim his 100th career win as a Bull.

Buffalo (8-7, 0-5 MAC) snapped a five-match losing streak while ending Binghamton's (10-10) win streak of five straight. The Bearcats jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before UB won three straight to take the lead. Budd would claim the final lead for UB, as he earned a technical fall over Rob Slavin, 20-5. Having already tackled the 100-career takedown milestone earlier this month, Budd sketched his name in UB lore as one of four Buffalo grapplers (Kyle Cerminara - 137, Gary Cooper - 113, Josh State - 102) to win 100 career matches.

Junior Mike Ragusa (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) got the ball rolling for the Bulls after falling behind 6-0 in the match. Ragusa would claim his first major decision since December 1 over Sam Sirota, 16-7, at 165 pounds. Junior Nate Rock (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) battled tough against Josh Patterson, holding the 7-6 edge as time expired. The win ends a five-match losing streak for Rock.

Senior Ray Lamb (Vineland, NJ/Absegami) scored a 16-3 major decision over Corey Waite to increase the UB lead, 11-6. After having dropped the last two matches to nationally-ranked opponents, Lamb finished the year as one of four Buffalo grapplers with 20 wins on the season. Heavyweight junior Jeff Parker (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) returned to the mats after having been out of action for four weeks to claim his 20th win of the season over Mike Patterson, 7-4. Redshirt freshman Andrew Stella (Tonawanda, NY/Sweet Home) recorded the match-clinching win at 141 pounds with a 8-4 decision over Brandon Toro-Segarra.

The Bulls finish the regular season at 8-7, and will await the Mid-American Conference Championships beginning on Saturday, March 3. The annual championships will be hosted at the University at Buffalo's Alumni Arena.
