Bulls' true freshman Kyle Cerminara (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) moved his MAC record to 4-0 with an 8-3 decision over Central Michigan's Bill Stouffer. Cerminara, who wrestles at the 197-pound weight class, picked up his points with three takedowns, an escape and a riding time point. He is tied for third on the Bulls with 16 dual meet takedowns this season. Cerminara's 18 overall wins rank fourth on UB's squad.

Dave Guarino (Derby, NY/Lake Shore) scored a 4-0 decision over the Chippewas' Joe Ray Berry. A second-period reversal keyed the victory for Guarino, who also earned a penalty point and a riding time point. Guarino - last year's MAC champion at 165 pounds - has a 3-1 MAC record this season and leads the Bulls with seven dual meet reversals.

Buffalo's other victorious grappler was Garrett Bontempo (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area). The UB sophomore, wrestling at 184 pounds, used a takedown, an escape and a riding time point to decision Jeff Pangborn of Central Michigan, 4-1. Bontempo earned his team-best 23rd overall win of the season. He also leads Buffalo with 30 dual meet takedowns.

The meet started at 141 pounds with Central Michigan's Jason Mester earning a 12-2 major decision over Ryan Bentley (Ripley, NY/Ripley). Bentley's points came from a pair of escapes.

Ty Cooper of Central Michigan followed that up with a 6-2 victory over Bill Jacoutot (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport). An escape and a penalty point were Jacoutot's means of reaching two points.

An 8-4 win by the Chippewas' David Bolyard - ranked 19th nationally at 157 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News - over Dave Edwards (Cornwall, NY/Cornwall) put Central Michigan up, 10-0. Edwards registered a takedown and two escapes during the match.

Following the Guarino victory, Gary Cooper (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) was injured during the 174-pound match and was forced to injury default to Central Michigan's Tony Gansen. Cooper, who scored with a takedown and an escape, was losing by four points at the time of his injury. A team point was negated from the Chippewas' score for unsportsmanlike conduct, making the Central Michigan lead, 15-3.

Bontempo and Cerminara then won consecutive matches and pulled UB to within six points. The Chippewas' regained momentum though, when heavyweight Jack Leffler pinned Mike Cooper (Jacksonville, FL/University Christian) with 22 seconds remaining in the first period.

Following that match, the Chippewas' Jason Borrelli scored a 7-2 decision over Charlie Voorhees (Warsaw, NY/Warsaw) at 125 pounds. Voorhees earned his points with a pair of escapes.

The match ended with Central Michigan's Jordan Webster - ranked 17th in the nation at 133 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News - major decisioning Brian Sebaaly (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster), 11-3. All three of Sebaaly's points came from escapes.

This was the last home meet for the Bulls this season, meaning it was Senior Day at Alumni Arena. Seniors Ben Cooper (Copenhagen, NY/Copenhagen/Brockport), Guarino, Jacoutot, and Voorhees were all honored.

Buffalo's wrestling team returns to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m., when it travels to Slippery Rock to take on The Rock.
