Perfect Bulls Down Clarion in Alumni Arena ThrillerBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo's wrestling team remained unbeaten and extended its winning streak to seven, the program's best start since the1974-1975 campaign, as it defeated Clarion, 18-17 in Alumni Arena. It came down to the wire as it was necessary for Buffalo to win the last two matches to guarantee the win. Jake Partlow (Kennonsburg, OH/Shenandoah) won his match in the 157-pound weight bracket in overtime, 3-1, and at 165 pounds, Gary Cooper (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) downed his opponent, 9-5, in the final match to seal the victory for Coach Jim Beichner, a 1987 alumnus of Clarion. Cooper improved to an impressive 6-0 record in dual meets and a 20-4 overall mark for the season. Shawn Kegel (Wantaugh, NY/MacArthur), 19-5 overall, dominated his 133-pound counterpart and won by fall at 1:49. Other wins came from Josh States (Lockport, NY/Lockport) at 184 pounds (6-3) and Joe Downey (Norwich, NY/Norwich) at 197 pounds (2-1). The Bulls travel to take on Mid-American Conference foe Ohio University (1pm) and
Edinboro (3pm), currently ranked seventh in the nation in the latest InterMat NCAA Division I wrestling
