UB Finishes 17th At Las Vegas Invitational

BUFFALO, NY - The UB men's wrestling team finished 17th at the Las Vegas Invitational over this past weekend. The Bulls had a strong showing in a 38-team field that featured some of the top programs in the nation.

Jacob Schaus (Falkoner, NY/Falconer) was the Bulls top finisher individually. Schaus placed sixth in the 174-pound weight class. He finished the weekend with a 6-3 record and improved his record to 12-5 on the season. Ranked sixth in the field, Schaus won five of his six matches on points and one by fall. Freshman Gary Cooper (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) had an impressive showing in his first national collegiate competition, going 3-2 in the 165-pound weight class. Cooper had two wins by fall in the tournament.

The Bulls, who earlier this year finished second at the Bloomsburg Invitational, will see their first dual meet action of the season this upcoming weekend. UB will face Miami-Ohio in a Mid-American Conference meet on Saturday, Dec. 11, in Oxford, OH. The Bulls will also face Findlay and Mt. Union in Oxford, OH in dual meet action as well.
