UB Wrestling Finishes Second In Tournament

BLOOMSBURG, PA - The UB wrestling team opened up with their first tournament of the season, finishing second at the Bloomsburg Intitational.

The Bulls had three-wrestlers take first place honors and go undefeated in the tournament. The team's three captains all took first place with senior Brian Schaal (Attica, NY/Alexander) winning the 125-pound class, and senior Jacob Schaus (Falconer, NY/Falconer) in the 174-pound, and senior Matt Ricci (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) in the 184-pound class.

Schaus defeated all three of his opponents on points and did not allow a single point to be scored against him, winning 3-0, 2-0, and 2-0 over Kris Smith of Bloomsburg for the championship. Schaal and Ricci each picked up a win by fall, two of the three wins by fall for the Bulls in the tournament.

Other top finishers for UB included John Eschenfelder (North Syracuse, NY/Cicero-N. Syracuse) in second place in the heavyweight division and third place finishes by Bill Jacoutot (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) at 141-pounds and Josh States (Lockport, NY/Lockport) at 197-pounds.

The Bulls will next compete at the Las Vegas Tournament on December 4-5.
