Bulls Move to 4-0 in the ECWA

The University at Buffalo wrestling team swept East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) foes Seton Hall and Bucknell on Saturday (2/7) afternoon in Alumni Arena. The Bulls defeated the Seton Hall Pirates 29-7 and the Bucknell Bison 20-15, while Bucknell defeated Seton Hall 26-18. The Bulls, now 7-5 overall, are a perfect 4-0 in ECWA action are in sole possession of first place in the conference. Double winners for UB included junior 118-pounder Brian Schaal (Attica, NY/Alexander), sophomore 134-pounder Jacob Partlow (Quaker City, OH/Shenandoah), freshman 177-pounder Josh States (Lockport, NY/Lockport) and senior 150-pounder John Stutzman (Bear, DE/William Penn) who not only won his 13th bout in his last 15, but also moved into a tie with Division II All-American Bill Stanbro for the career wins lead at UB with 91.

The Bulls will be in action again on Sunday (2/15) when they travel to Union-Endicott, NY to face conference foes Rider and Boston University beginning at 1:00 pm. UB will wrap up its 1997-98 home dual meet schedule on Saturday (2/21) when they host Duquesne in Alumni Arena at 5:00 pm.
