Four Bulls Named to MAC Volleyball Honor RollBUFFALO, NY - Four members of the University at Buffalo women's volleyball team were named to the Mid-American Conference's 2000 Volleyball Honor Roll, as announced by the league office on Monday, November 27. Juniors Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin), Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip), Amelia Liddle (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) and Heather Barfuss (Huntington, NY/John H. Glenn) all received recognition from the MAC for their academic and athletic performance. Student-athletes must obtain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00, earn a varsity letter for the current season and have attended the institution for a full year to be eligible for the honor. Shiels, a psychology major, led the Bulls in kills for the third straight season in 2000, compiling 283 (2.80 per game) on a team-high 855 attack attempts. Shiels currently ranks sixth all-time at UB in career kills (928) and in career attack attempts (2,692). LaCour finished second on the team in digs with 267 (2.34 per game), and she led the Bulls with 1,040 assists (9.12 per game). Her 1,040 assists are the sixth-highest single-season total in school history. A management major, LaCour was the only player on the team to start every match and to play in every game during the 2000 season. Liddle, a physical therapy major, led the Bulls in blocks with 72 on the season (11 solo, 61 assists), while also adding 1.40 kills per game and 0.78 digs per game. Barfuss finished the year with 130 kills (1.30 per game), 153 digs (1.53 per game) and 42 blocks (0.42 per game). She is a marketing major. The Bulls finished the 2000 season with a 4-28 overall record and an 0-18 conference mark. |
