Weekley Named to Academic All-MAC Team
Weekley was the only player to start all 30 of the Bulls' matches this season, and she led the team with 1.30 blocks per game (third in the MAC) and ranked third on the squad with 2.32 kills per game. Weekley reached double digits in kills in 12 matches this season, and she had a career-high 18 kills and 11 blocks in a 3-2 win over Miami (OH) on November 7, helping the Bulls to their first MAC win of the year. Weekley later set a career high with 14 blocks against Kent State on October 8. She surpassed the 600 mark for career kills and the 400 mark for career blocks. Her 406 career blocks are fourth all-time in UB volleyball history, with her 324 career block assists ranking fourth and her 82 career solo blocks ranking eighth in school history. Weekley's 1.30 blocks per game this year rank seventh on UB's single-season charts. Weekley is a psychology major with a 3.791 grade point average. She was a team co-captain in 2004 and also serves as the Student Athlete Advisory Committee's Athletes-for-Athletes Officer. To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20
cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments from the current season only are considered. |
