Morzenti Named to All-MAC Freshman Team
Morzenti finished the 2003 season second on the team in kills with 331 (2.88 per game), behind senior Lindsay Matikosh's (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) 408 kills (3.52 per game). Morzenti's 331 kills are the most ever recorded by a freshman in UB volleyball history. She also tied for second on the team behind Matikosh with 28 service aces and ranked fourth on the team with 274 digs (2.38 per game) and 70 blocks (0.61 per game) on the season. "We're very proud of Nikki's accomplishments and of the accomplishments of our entire team this past season," said UB head coach Sally Kus. "To have a player get conference recognition tells us that we're definitely headed in the right direction with our program." The Bulls finished the 2003 season with an 11-20 overall record and a 5-11 Mid-American Conference mark. Their five conference wins are the most the Bulls have recorded in one season since joining the MAC in 1998. Joining Morzenti on the MAC All-Freshman Team is Michaele Blackburn (Ohio), Kelly
Cochran (Ball State), Kate McCullagh (Northern Illinois), Meghan Moore (Central Michigan) and Lauren
Slusser (Miami). |
