Bulls Lose at Miami

Lindsay Matikosh leads Bulls' attack with nine kills, 10 digs

OXFORD, OH - The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped a three-game match at Miami in Mid-American Conference action in Oxford, OH. Game scores were 30-19, 30-27 and 30-20. With the loss, the Bulls' record now stands at 5-22 overall and 0-17 in the MAC while Miami improves to 13-11 overall and 10-7 in the MAC.

Buffalo sophomore Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) led the Bulls' attack, just missing a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs. Freshman Katie Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) finished the night with a match-high 12 digs while also adding three kills, and sophomore Becky Ashare (Coram, NY/Longwood) added eight kills, six digs and two blocks to the Bulls' effort. Freshman Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) also chipped in eight kills as well as a team-high three service aces and four digs. Senior setter Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) finished with 33 assists, seven digs, two kills, two blocks and one service ace.

The Bulls have just one more match remaining in the 2001 season. They host Ohio on Sunday, November 18 at 2 pm at Alumni Arena. Buffalo's five seniors - LaCour, Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin), Wendy Ryder (Bernhards Bay, NY/Genesee CC), Heather Barfuss (Huntington, NY/John H. Glenn) and Amelia Liddle (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) - will be honored prior to the match in a special Senior Day presentation.
