Bulls Conclude Regular Season At Miami

OXFORD, OH – The UB women’s volleyball team wrapped up its regular season at Miami on Saturday night, falling 3-0 to the host RedHawks at Millett Hall. With the regular season now complete, the Bulls will head into the Mid-American Conference Tournament which begins on Tuesday night.

The RedHawks took the match, 25-16, 25-18, 25-11 as they hit .407 on the night, opposed to the Bulls who hit .169. The Bulls were led by junior Maria Mezzadri who had 10 kills, leading the Bulls in that category for the second straight night. Sophomore Marisa Hornbaker had six kills and no errors on 19 swings for a team-high .316 hitting mark. Sophomore Kristin Bignell added five kills with just one error, while recording three total blocks.

Sophomore Lindsey Schlegel had 24 assists, while junior Lauren Fensten finished with a team-high 10 digs. All 12 UB players who dressed for the match saw action tonight.

Miami was led by 14 kills from Megan Griffin who had 14 kills and just one error, hitting .684 for the match. Emily Schroeder added seven kills and Andrea Atteberry finished with 36 assists. Melissa Zenz finished the game with 16 digs.

The Bulls will begin the 2008 MAC Tournament on Tuesday night. UB will be the 12th seed in this year’s tournament and will travel to the number five seed, which has yet to be decided. Please check back at BuffaloBulls.com for updated MAC Tournament information.
