Bulls Lose in Three at Bowling Green

Lindsay Matikosh leads Buffalo with nine kills and match-high 16 digs

BOWLING GREEN, OH - The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped a three-game decision at Bowling Green tonight, 30-28, 31-29, 30-21. Buffalo was led by junior Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) with nine kills, a match-high 16 digs and three blocks.

Senior Rebecca Ashare (Coram, NY/Longwood) added eight kills and four digs, and sophomore Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster), junior Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion) and freshman Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) each finished the night with seven kills apiece. Bouie added a match-high six blocks, and Weekley finished with four, including two solos. Freshman Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) posted a double-double with 17 setter assists and 12 digs.

Bowling Green (9-19, 4-12 MAC) was led by Kristin Gamby with 12 kills and 12 digs and Emily Manser with 12 kills and 10 digs.

The Bulls (9-21, 1-15 MAC) have two more matches remaining in the 2002 season. They host Ohio at 6 pm on Friday, November 22 and Miami (OH) at 5 pm on Saturday, November 23. Friday's match against Ohio is a doubleheader with the UB men's basketball team which is scheduled to tip off its 2002-03 season at 8:15 pm against Cornell following the volleyball match.
