Bulls Wrap Up Regular Season The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped both of its matches this past weekend at Alumni Arena, but played tough against two of the top teams in the MAC East. The Bulls played a strong game three in a 3-0 loss to Bowling Green and then played probably their best game of the season in a game one victory over Miami (OH). The Bulls fought hard with the RedHawks, but dropped that match 3-1. Neba And Bigelow Have Big Weekends... Junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) averaged 12 kills and eight digs on the weekend, while also recording six total blocks and four service aces. Neba led all players with 16 kills against Miami (OH). Not far behind her was freshman Richelle Bigelow (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) who had a double-double against the RedHawks with 15 kills and 15 digs. Bigelow had seven kills and five digs against the Falcons.
...Schlegel And Bignell Do Too Also putting up career numbers this past weekend was freshman setter Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) who had a career-high 51 assists and just missed a triple-double against Miami (OH) as she finished with eight kills and nine digs. Schlegel also added three service aces. Freshman Kristin Bignell (Drayton, Ontario/Norwell District) had 12 kills and hit .320 against Miami (OH) and recorded four block assists. Bignell had two block assists and five kills against Bowling Green. Seniors Say Goodbye
Two UB seniors played in their final match at Alumni Arena this past Saturday night. Sarah Streib (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville) finished her regular season career as one of the top serving options on the team, seeing plenty of action in the final two matches and combined for 11 digs in the two contests. Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) added 29 more digs to her career total with her performance this past weekend. Garcia is currently the school’s all-time leader in career and single-season digs. Up Next
The Bulls begin the 2007 Mid-American Conference Tournament on Tuesday night as they travel to Kent State for first round action. The winner of that match will move on to Toledo, OH where the final three rounds of the conference tournament will be played this weekend. |
