Junior Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) led the Bulls with match-highs of 14 kills and 19 digs to become just the fourth player in UB history, and the second junior all-time, to record 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. She also became just the third player ever to record 400 kills and 400 digs in the same season. Matikosh currently has 411 kills and 404 digs this season and 1,012 kills and 1,018 digs in her career.

The Zips (21-5, 12-2 MAC) entered the match atop the MAC's East Division standings and dominated play in the first game, earning a 30-18 win, before the Bulls came back to tie the match with a 30-27 win in game two. With the score tied 25-25, Buffalo jumped ahead 28-25 on a kill by Matikosh and block assists by freshman Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) and sophomore Kathryn Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) and Weekley and sophomore Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster), and an attacking error by Akron's Ashleigh Nugent gave the Bulls their final point in the game. The Zips again dominated game three, ending it at 30-19 on a kill by Sandy Lewis. The Bulls would not give in, however, and they jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in game four. A block assist by junior Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion) and Schrantz made the score 29-22, and a ball handling error by Akron setter Lyndsay Sopko knotted the match at two games apiece by giving the Bulls a 30-23 win. Akron took an early 7-1 lead in game five en route to the 15-5 final.

Senior Rebecca Ashare (Coram, NY/Longwood) finished in double figures in kills for the Bulls with 11 while also adding five blocks. Schrantz added seven kills, 32 assists, 11 digs and five blocks, and Henry finished with nine kills, 14 digs and two blocks. Weekley led the Bulls with six blocks on the night.

The Bulls (9-20, 1-14 MAC) play their final road match of the season on Friday, November 15 at Bowling Green at 6 pm. They then host Ohio and Miami (OH) on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23, respectively. Both home matches are set to begin at 5 pm.
