Marshall Defeats UB Volleyball

Shiels and Matikosh post 11 kills apiece

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team dropped a Mid-American Conference match to the Marshall Thundering Herd at Alumni Arena, 11-15, 11-15, 1-15. With the loss, the Bulls' record falls to 4-26 overall and 0-17 in the MAC. Marshall earned its fourth win of the season, upping its record to 4-25 overall and 2-14 in the league.

Junior Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) and freshman Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) both finished with a team-high 11 kills apiece, and Shiels also added a team-high nine digs. With her 11 kills, Shiels moved into sixth place all-time in career kills at UB with 915. Junior Sasha Courbat (Cedar Falls, IA/Kirkwood CC) contributed nine kills for the second straight night, and junior Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) added 24 assists, four kills and six digs. Junior Jessica Redding (Andover, MA/Eastern Connecticut State) added a career-high 13 assists and two service aces. Marshall was led by freshman Tracey King with a match-high 15 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Jodi Fick recorded 14 kills and 14 digs, and sophomore Grace Jones finished with 12 kills.

The Bulls hit the road one more time for a match at Stony Brook on Wednesday, November 15. They then return home for the final match of the season on Saturday, November 18 against Bowling Green.
