After a service error by Akron's Lyndsay Sopko broke a 7-7 tie, the Bulls never trailed in game one. Senior Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) had seven of her team-high 13 kills on the night in game one, and a service ace by sophomore Becky Ashare (Coram, NY/Longwood) gave Buffalo a 30-27 win. The Bulls led late in game two as well, 28-26, but a kill by Katie Kuzior, two attack errors by Matikosh and a kill by Monica Morlock ended the game at 30-28 in the Zips' favor. Akron dominated game three and then pulled out a 30-24 win in game four to end the match. Ashare had 12 kills and six blocks, tying her career high, and senior Heather Barfuss (Huntington, NY/John H.
