BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team lost a four-game match to the visiting Akron Zips at Alumni Arena. The Zips took game one by a 15-12 score, but Buffalo answered with a 15-9 win in game two by outscoring Akron 10-4 to break a 5-5 tie. Junior Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) ended the game with a service ace, but Akron quickly rebounded for 15-10 and 15-7 wins in games three and four.

Shiels posted her sixth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 14 digs. Junior Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) finished the night with a match-high 23 digs to go along with 33 assists. Junior Sasha Courbat (Cedar Falls, IA/Kirkwood CC) contributed nine kills, 11 digs and six block assists, and junior Heather Barfuss (Huntington, NY/John H. Glenn) added seven kills, seven assists, six digs and six blocks. The Zips were led by sophomore Katie Kuzior with 18 kills and seven blocks. Freshman Sandy Lewis and sophomore Ashlie Case added 15 kills and 16 digs and 14 kills and 21 digs, respectively.

The Bulls play another conference match tomorrow night at home against the Marshall Thundering Herd at 7 pm.
