Women's Volleyball Weekly Release 11/1/99Current record - 11-13 (4-8) (Mid-American Conference)Player of the Week Sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Meade (Selden, NY/Selden) helped the Bulls go 2-0 this week as she averaged 18.5 kills and 16.5 digs in wins over Central Michigan and Ohio. Meade recorded a career-high 21 kills and 17 digs in a 3-1 win over Central Michigan and 16 kills and 16 digs over Ohio. Bulls travel to Bowling Green and Toledo this week The Bulls travel to Bowling Green and Toledo this weekend for their last road trip of the regular season. The Bulls take on Bowling Green on Friday night at 7:00 pm and Toledo on Saturday for a 7:00 pm match. This is the first meeting bewtween Buffalo and the two schools this season. Shiels, Meade Continue to Lead Bulls Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) and senior outside hitter Rebecca Meade (Selden, NY/Selden) have continued their consistent perfomance for the Bulls this season. Shiels leads the team in kills with a 3.48 per game average while Meade is close behind at 3.40 per game. Meade leads the Bulls in digs with a 3.38 average and services aces at 0.38 per game. Shiels has played in a team-high 86 games this season while Meade is second in games played appearing in 81. Buffalo Knocks off Central Michigan The Bulls returned home to Alumni Arena Friday night (10/28) and picked up their third win of the season in Mid-American Conference play. The Bulls, who had been on the road for the past two weeks, defeated the Chippewas in four games, 15-11, 10-15, 15-11, 15-10. Rebecca Meade lead the Bulls with a career-high 21 kills and 17 digs in the match. Senior setter Somer Deschambault (Midland, Ontario/St. Theresa's) was also strong in the match as she contributed 53 assists and 22 digs. Bulls Defeat Bobcats The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team moved to 11-13 overall and 4-8 in the Mid-American Conference with a win over Ohio on Sunday in Alumni Arena in four games. The Bulls, who were lead by senior outside hitter Rebecca Meade (Selden, NY/Selden) with 16 kills and 16 digs, defeated the Bobcats in four games, 15-7, 15-4, 15-17, 15-12. Sophomore middle hitter Heather Barfuss (Huntington, NY/John H. Glenn) was also strong for the Bulls with 13 kills. Senior setter Somer Deschambault (Midland, Ontario/St. Theresa's) contributed 48 kills and 10 digs in the Buffalo win. Road Blocks Newcomer Sasha Courbat (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Kirkwood C.C) has made an impact for the Bulls in her first season, particulary at the net where she leads the Bulls in blocks per game with a 0.94 average. Deschambault Closing in on Assist Record Senior Somer Deschambault (Midland, Ontario) needs 388 assists to become UB's All-Time assists leader. Deschambault currently has 3,504 assists compared to UB's all-time leader Barb Tinus ('87) who has 3,848. As a sidenote, Deschambault had 1,085 assists in 1998. Deschambault All-Time Career Records:
