Bulls Drop 3-1 Decision To Toledo

TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo volleyball team was unable to continue the momentum of a set one victory, ending on the short end of a 3-1 decision to Toledo, Saturday afternoon at St. Ursula Academy.

The Rockets took the match, 22-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-13 as Toledo hit .318 opposed to a .175 hitting mark for the Bulls. Junior Maria Mezzadri led the way with nine kills, while senior Claudia Neba had eight kills on the afternoon. Sophomore Kristin Bignell added seven kills and three total blocks.

Sophomore Lindsey Schlegel finished with 23 assists, while junior Lauren Fensten had a team-high 11 digs. The Bulls finished the match with seven service aces, including two from Neba, Schlegel and Fensten.

Toledo was led by 14 kills from Amber DeWeerdt and 13 kills from Shannon Strachan. Kassie Kadera had 44 assists, while Lori Ruth finishes with a match-high 13 digs.

The Bulls will be back in action next weekend as they head to Bowling Green on Friday and Miami (OH) on Saturday.
