Bulls Drop One On The Road, One At Home

The University at Buffalo volleyball team ended its five-match road trip this past Friday with a 3-0 loss at the hands of Akron. UB returned home on Saturday night where it faced the Toledo Rockets. Toledo was able to take a 3-1 decision at Alumni Arena. In that match, the Bulls got an excellent performance from sophomore Kelsey Lueders (Littleton, CO/Chatfield), who had 13 kills and just one error on 24 attempts and added three service aces.

Four Bulls Hit Century Mark In Games Played

Four UB players have seen action in all 100 of UB’s games this year through 30 matches. Senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) has served as the libero in each match, while freshman Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) has been UB’s primary setter for each game. UB’s two middles blockers, Kelsey Lueders (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) and Kristin Bignell (Drayton, Ontario/Norwell District) have also seen action in all 100 games and Lueders is second on the team in kills, while Bignell is fourth.

Garcia Keeps On Digging

Already UB’s all-time leader in career digs, senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) keeps on adding to her record. Garcia currently leads the team with 402 digs on the season and currently has 1,848 for her career. Garcia is currently seventh in Mid-American Conference history in career digs.

Time To Salute The Seniors

This upcoming weekend will be the final home matches for two members of the UB volleyball team. Prior to Saturday’s match, the Bulls will recognize seniors Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) and Sarah Streib (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville). Streib has 31 kills on the year, including a career-high 11 kill performance earlier this year. Garcia leads the team in digs again this season and is looking to climb the Mid-American Conference records.
