Bulls Fall In Final Two Home Conference Matches The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped its two conference matches this past weekend. The two contests served as UB’s final two home matches on the year. UB put forth a valiant effort in both, but were unable to defeat Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan, falling by identical 3-1 margins. UB fell in the first game of each before taking game two, but on both nights were unable to keep the momentum past the intermission and dropped both games three and four. Dominant In The Middle Sophomore transfer Alyssa Fitchette (Watertown, NY/Watertown/Genesee CC) has been one of UB’s most consistent performers through out the season and has put up excellent numbers. This past weekend she served as the most efficient hitter for UB as she struck a .425 percentage, notching identical 10-kill performances, while registering just three errors on the week. Fitchette also served as the most dominant blocker, recording eight total blocks, including six block assists and two of the solo variety. On the season, Fitchette leads UB in hitting percentage (.297), solo blocks (18), block assists (84) and total blocks (102).
UB In The MAC Rankings The Bulls can be found in several of the MAC leader categories. As a team, UB is second in the MAC in service aces, registering 1.92 per game. Central Michigan leads the conference at 2.06 service aces per game. Alyssa Fitchette sits at sixth in hitting percentage at .297. Jenna Mapé (Calgary, Alberta/Father Lacombe) is sixth at 0.38 per game . Kelsey Lueders (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) and Fitchette remain amongst the blocking leaders as Lueders is second at 1.32 per game and Fitchette is seventh at 1.04. Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) is currently ninth in the league in digs at 4.70 per game, but in conference matches only she jumps up to seventh at 5.05 per game. Up Next
The Bulls hit the road for the final four regular season matches beginning this weekend at Toledo. UB plays the Rockets on Fri., Nov. 3 before heading to Akron the following night. UB has already defeated Akron this year. Both matches begin at 7:00 pm.
