Bulls Fall At Kent State
The Golden Flashes took the match, 30-21, 30-20, 30-25 as they hit .307 for the match, compared to just .186 for the Bulls. Freshman Richelle Bigelow (Littleton, CO/Dakota Ridge) led the way for the Bulls as she had 15 kills, eight digs and one solo block on the night. Sophomore Maria Mezzadri (Livonia, MI/Livonia Stevenson) had seven kills and just one error on 19 total swings, while freshman Kristin Bignell (Drayton, Ontario/Norwell District) was also extremely efficient as she had six kills and just one error on the night. Freshman Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had 29 assists and was one of three UB players to record double-digit digs as she had 14. Senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) led the way with 16 digs, while junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) added 11 digs and six kills on the night.
Kent State was led by 10 kills from three different players including Anja Knabe-Paulsen, Lauren Jones and Anne Zakelj. Jenny Keck had 30 assists, while Laura Jensen added a match-high 22 digs. Keck also had four of Kent State’s nine service aces. The Bulls remain on the road as they travel to nationally-ranked Ohio on Saturday night. The match against the Bobcats will begin at 7:00 pm. |
