Bulls Fall to Bowling Green in Three

Sophomore Becky Ashare leads Buffalo with 12 kills

BOWLING GREEN, OH - Sophomore Becky Ashare (Coram, NY/Longwood) had a team-high 12 kills, and sophomore Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion) added 10 kills, but the University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped a three-game match to the Falcons of Bowling Green tonight by scores of 30-26, 30-28 and 30-24. With the loss, the Bulls fall to 5-16 overall and 0-11 in the Mid-American Conference while Bowling Green improves to 13-6 overall and 6-5 in league play.

Sophomore Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) contributed to the Bulls' effort with nine kills and 11 digs, and senior Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) finished the night with 36 assists and a match-high 14 digs. Freshman Katie Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) added 10 digs and three service aces, and freshman Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) led the Bulls with four blocks while also adding six kills and six digs. As a team, the Bulls hit .196 in the match compared to Bowling Green's .248, and they recorded six team blocks compared to the Falcons' nine.

The Bulls now head to Central Michigan for a 7 pm match tomorrow night. The Chippewas are also winless in the MAC with an 0-11 conference record (5-14 overall) and are coming off a five-game loss to Marshall tonight in Mount Pleasant.
