Player of the Week

Sophomore outside hitter Keri Shiels (West Islip, NY/West Islip) was the top performer for Coach Nadine Lilavois's squad this weekend as she tallied nine kills and seven digs in a loss at Ball State on Friday night (10/22), 3-0 and nine kills and three digs in Saturday's loss at Miami (OH), 3-0.

Bulls Host Central Michigan, Ohio This Week

The Bulls, who have played six matches on the road since October 8, return home this weekend as they host Central Michigan on Friday night (10/29) at 7:00 pm and Ohio on Sunday (10/31) at 1:00 pm.

This will be the first meeting for Buffalo with the two schools this season.

The Bulls are 0-2 in matches against Central Michigan and 0-3 against Ohio.

Shiels, Meade Continue to Lead Bulls

Keri Shiels and senior outside hitter Rebecca Meade (Selden, NY/Selden) have continued their consistent perfomance for the Bulls this season. Shiels leads the team in kills with a 3.56 per game average while Meade is close behind at 3.26 per game.

Meade leads the Bulls in digs with a 3.30 average and services aces at 0.36 per game.

Shiels has played in a team-high 78 games this season while Meade is second in games played appearing in 73.

Trouble with the Birds

The Bulls dropped two road games this weekend at Ball State on Friday and at Miami (OH) on Saturday. The Bulls fell to the Cardinals in three games, with scores of 15-8, 15-7, 15-5. On Saturday, the Bulls faced the RedHawks and once again fell victim in three games, 15-1, 15-4, 15-1.

The Bulls will have another chance with Miami (OH) during regular season play when the RedHawks travel to Buffalo on November 13.

Buffalo, who moved to 9-13 overall and 2-8 in Mid-American Conference play after this weekend's losses, will not face Ball State again this season during the regular season.

Road Blocks

Newcomer Sasha Courbat has made an impact for the Bulls in her first season, particulary at the net where she leads the Bulls in blocks per game with a 0.87 average.

Deschambault Closing in on Assist Record

Somer Deschambault needs 489 assists to become UB's All-Time assists leader. Deschambault currently has 3,403 assists compared to UB's all-time leader Barb Tinus ('87) who has 3,848.

As a sidenote, Deschambault had 1,085 assists in 1998.
