Ball State Beats Bulls, 3-0

Matikosh and Morzenti lead Bulls with 10 kills apiece

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo volleyball team suffered its second consecutive 3-0 loss, this time at the hands of the visiting Ball State Cardinals this afternoon in Alumni Arena. Game scores were 30-23, 30-27 and 30-22. The Bulls were led by senior Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) and freshman Nikki Morzenti (Safety Harbor, FL/Clearwater) with 10 kills apiece.

Matikosh and Morzenti both posted double-doubles with 12 and 11 digs, respectively, and sophomore setter Amy Brown (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) also posted a double-double with 38 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) had nine kills and three blocks, and senior Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion) contributed eight kills and five blocks, including two solos. Junior Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) recorded a team-high 15 digs for the Bulls.

Ball State (10-10 overall, 5-3 MAC) was led by Sarah Obras, last year's Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, with 17 kills and a match-high 22 digs. Kelly Cochran had 12 kills, and Stephanie Keller finished with 14 digs.

Today's match was the first of a four-match homestand for the Bulls (8-13 overall, 2-5 MAC). They next host Marshall on Friday, October 24 and Kent State on Saturday, October 25. Both matches will begin at 7 pm in Alumni Arena.
