KENT, OH - The University at Buffalo volleyball team suffered a four-game loss at Kent State tonight, led by sophomore Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) with 11 kills. Kent State took the first two games by scores of 30-14 and 30-26 before the Bulls won game three by a 30-26 score, but the Golden Flashes ended the match with a 30-17 win in game four. The loss drops the Bulls' record to 4-14 overall and 0-9 in the Mid-American Conference, while the Golden Flashes improved to 11-7 overall and 6-5 in the MAC. Kent State hit an impressive .317 in the match compared to Buffalo's .125 hitting percentage, and the Golden Flashes recorded 11 team blocks compared to Buffalo's four.

The Golden Flashes never trailed in game one and strung together a 12-3 run en route to a 30-14 win. The two teams were tied seven different times during game two, but the Golden Flashes got the upper hand at 17-16 on a kill by junior Jennifer Dreyer, and they went up 2-0 in the match with a 30-26 victory in the game. The Bulls grabbed some momentum in the third game with a 6-0 run early on to make the score 13-6 in their favor. Kent State battled back and cut the deficit to one, 25-24, before committing three errors over the final five points to give the Bulls a 30-26 victory. With game four tied at 10-10, the Golden Flashes took control and scored eight of the next nine points on their way to ending the match with a 30-17 win.

Senior Amelia Liddle (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) added nine kills to the Bulls' effort, and freshman Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) had five kills and a career-high 11 digs. Freshman Katie Henry (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) added six kills, 10 digs and three service aces, and senior setter Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) finished the match with 35 assists and a team-high 12 digs.
