Golden Flashes Dump Bulls In ThreeBUFFALO, NY - Sarah Kutschinski and Carrie McEnery combined for 23 kills and Kent State recorded 12 blocks in a three-game sweep of the University at Buffalo, 15-9, 15-9, 15-7 in a Mid-American Conference volleyball match at Alumni Arena on Wednesday night. Stephanie Doran paced the Golden Flash offense with 36 assists while McEnery also had five service aces as Kent (6-12, 3-5 in the MAC) piled up 14 service aces. Kent controlled the net throughout the match while the Bulls (4-16, 0-9) had serving problems of their own, totaling 11 service errors. The Bulls were led by freshman Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda), who had 11 kills and 10 digs. Fellow freshman Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion) had a career-best eight kills and two block assists while junior Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) had 38 assists and 10 digs. After dropping the first game, the Bulls and Golden Flashes were knotted at 3-3 before McEnery reeled off three aces as Kent opened up a 9-3 lead and took control of the match by winning game two, 15-9. In the final game, Kutschinski drilled six kills to lead the Kent offense as the Golden Flashes completed the sweep. The Bulls are next in action on Friday night at Ohio University before heading to Marshall on Sunday. |
