Alexis Bouie

AKRON, OH - The University at Buffalo volleyball team was shut out at Akron tonight, losing a 3-0 match by scores of 30-13, 30-23 and 30-23. The loss drops the Bulls' record to 8-12 overall and 2-4 in the Mid-American Conference. With the win, the Zips improved to 8-10 overall and 3-3 in the MAC.

Senior Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) led the Bulls with eight kills, while senior Alexis Bouie (Albion, NY/Albion), junior Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) and freshman Nikki Morzenti (Safety Harbor, FL/Clearwater) added seven kills apiece. Bouie led the Bulls with a team-high five blocks, and Schrantz and Morzenti each recorded two blocks. Sophomore Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) finished with six kills and two blocks.

The Zips were led by Sandy Lewis with 18 kills, 11 digs and four blocks, Lindsey Sullenberger with 12 kills and six blocks and Sara Hopper with 11 kills and nine digs.

The Bulls return home to host Ball State, the defending MAC Tournament Champion, at 2 pm on Sunday, October 19 in Alumni Arena. That match is the first of a four-match homestand for the Bulls.
