Volleyball Weekly ReleaseBULLS FALL TO BOWLING GREEN, TOLEDO The Bulls dropped Mid-American Conference matches to Bowling Green and Toledo last week, giving them a 4-15 overall record and an 0-8 mark in league play. On Friday, October 13, Buffalo lost its seventh road match of the season, 15-4, 15-7, 15-7 to the Falcons. Junior Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) led the Bulls offensively with 10 kills, and freshman Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) posted a match-high 14 digs. Junior Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) finished the night with 13 digs and 30 assists. On Sunday, October 15, junior Amelia Liddle (Toronto, ONT/Leaside) posted a career-high 13 kills and added four blocks, but it was not enough as the Bulls lost a four-game match to visiting Toledo. Buffalo rallied to earn a 15-11 win in game one before dropping three straight games, 12-15, 7-15, 11-15. Shiels posted 10 kills and 10 digs, and Matikosh added 11 kills and six digs. LaCour finished with 50 assists and a match-high 13 digs. LACOUR LEADS BULLS OVER WEEKEND Junior Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) posted 50 assists and a match-high 13 digs against Toledo, and she added 30 assists and 13 digs in Buffalo's loss at Bowling Green, giving her 80 assists and 26 digs in seven games over the weekend. LaCour now has 614 assists this season (9.16 per game), and she still stands in eighth-place all-time with 946 career assists. She is also second on the team this season with 120 digs (1.79 per game). MATIKOSH SHOWING CONSISTENCY Freshman Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) is having a consistent freshman season as she continues to lead the Bulls in digs (175, 2.61 per game) and to rank second on the team in kills (145, 2.16 per game). Matikosh recorded eight kills against Bowling Green and 11 kills against Toledo this past weekend. She has recorded at least eight kills in each of the Bulls' last five matches. Matikosh has also led UB in digs in 13 of 19 matches this season. LIDDLE POSTS CAREER HIGH Junior Amelia Liddle (Toronto, Ontario/Leaside) posted a career-high 13 kills in UB's four-game loss to Toledo on Sunday. Liddle now has 82 kills through Buffalo's first 19 matches of the season after recording 117 kills all of last season. Liddle also posted four blocks against the Rockets. She is second on the team with 40 blocks (six solo, 34 assists, 0.71 per game) this season. THIS COMING WEEK The Bulls will stay at home for one more match this week, hosting Kent State on Wednesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. The Golden Flashes are 5-12 overall and 2-5 in the MAC. Buffalo will be looking to end a six-match losing streak and earn its first conference win of the season at home before taking to the road again for four matches, at Ohio, Marshall, Western Michigan and Kent State.
