Bulls Drop A Pair At Home

The University at Buffalo volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in its return to Alumni Arena this past weekend as it fell to Western Michigan and Northern Illinois out of the MAC West. The Bulls lost both matches 3-0, but showed a spark against the Huskies, leading for the majority of game three. UB has just three home matches left.

On The Road Again

The Bulls embark on their final road trip of the season as they hit the road for the next five matches, playing both members of the MAC East and West. The Bulls head to Michigan for a pair of matches this upcoming weekend and then will go to Ohio for road matches against Ohio, Akron and Kent State. The Bulls will wrap up the season with three home matches in November before beginning the 2007 Mid-American Conference Tournament.

Kill Leaders Hail From Rocky Mountains

Three of UB’s top players in the kills department hail from Colorado. Junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) leads the team with 153 kills while sophomore Kelsey Lueders (Littleton, CO/Chatfield) has 129 kills. Freshman Marisa Hornbaker (Colorado Springs, CO/Colorado Springs Christian) is fourth on the team with 128 kills.

Seniors Get It Done

UB’s two seniors have gotten the job done for the Bulls the last few matches. Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) continues to lead the team in digs as she has 331 on the season. Garcia also has 14 service aces, which is second on the team. Fellow senior, Sarah Streib (Baldwinsville, NY/Baldwinsville) has helped the Bulls as of late, beginning with her career-high match in UB’s victory over Akron. Against Northern Illinois, Streib keyed a 7-0 UB run in game three with three service aces. She currently has 12 service aces in 46 games and she is third on the team in service aces per game.

Up Next

The Bulls will travel to Eastern Michigan on Friday night for a 7:00 pm matchup with the Eagles. The following day, UB will head to Mt. Pleasant, MI where it will take on Central Michigan. That match is also scheduled for 7:00 pm.
