Volleyball Sweeps Niagara
NIAGARA FALLS, NY - The University at Buffalo volleyball team swept Niagara, 3-0, at the Gallagher Center on Wednesday night. Game scores were 30-21, 30-25 and 30-26. It was the Bulls' third win in their last four games. Junior Molly Schrantz (Depew, NY/Lancaster) and freshman Nikki Morzenti (Safety Harbor, FL/Clearwater) led the Buffalo attack with 16 kills apiece. Senior Lindsay Matikosh (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) chipped in with 12 kills. Defensively, Katie Weekley (Dayton, OH/Chaminade-Julienne) recorded four block assists. The Bulls won the first two games in come-from-behind fashion. In game one, trailing 16-15, UB mounted a 15-5 run to close the game. The Bulls were down 10-5 in game two before coming back for the victory. The teams traded points in game three before hitting errors spelled Niagara's demise. With the win, the Bulls improve to 8-11. Niagara falls to 4-17. UB returns to action on
Friday when it travels to Akron to take on the Zips. |
