Bulls To Hold Annual “Dig Pink” Event Friday Night UB will be donating funds to two organizations
This cause hits home for many of the members of the women’s volleyball team. Mothers, sisters, aunts, and close family friends have all been affected by this disease and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the University at Buffalo is doing its part to help out. “We are honored to be taking part in this great cause,” said head coach Todd Kress. “This is a disease that doesn’t discriminate and everyone has been affected one way or another. We urge all our fans to come on out on Friday night and where pink for this cause.” There are many ways people can get involved and help donate. The team is selling memorial ribbons for $1 in the Student Union. People also have the opportunity to sponsor the Bulls by pledging $1 per dig for their game on October 16th. Flat donations to the event are also appreciated. Raffles tickets will be sold at the event. Fans can buy two tickets for $5 or an arm length for $15. Fans can also donate on the Side Out website at https://www.side-out.org/application/teams/team_page/1298. Since its inception in 2004 and including donations received thus far in 2009, The Side Out Foundation will have provided over $700,000 to Breast Cancer Research. With a goal of receiving $1,000,000 in 2010 alone and the ongoing transition from a local to a national campaign they have set in place the policy and procedures to guarantee that donations are distributed to Breast Cancer research and support organizations that will have the most immediate and direct impact on the challenges of managing this disease.
