Bulls Fall To Western Michigan, 3-0

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team returned home after a three-match road trip, but was unable to come away with a victory as the Bulls fell to Western Michigan, 3-0, Friday night at Alumni Arena. The Bulls have one more home game this weekend before they hit the road again for another three-match road trip.

Western Michigan took the match 30-15, 30-12, 30-17 as the Broncos hit .350 for the night, opposed to a -.020 hitting percentage for UB. Senior Lizaiha Garcia (Dayton, OH/Beavercreek) continued to be a force on defense as she added a match-high 17 digs on the night and a service ace, while sophomore Ellen Robertson (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) added seven digs. Junior Claudia Neba (Aurora, CO/Smoky Hill/Rutgers) and freshman Kristin Bignell (Drayton, Ontario/Norwell District) each had a team-high six kills and both of them contributed with two block assists. Freshman Lindsey Schlegel (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had a match-high 21 assists, while adding two kills and five digs.

Western Michigan, who improved to 6-1 in conference, was led by 11 kills from Michelle Moore and 10 kills from Katie Eberling. Sam Viox had 16 assists and Caitlin Strimel had 12 digs. The Broncos also recorded 12 service aces on the night, including seven by Eberling.

The Bulls remain home on Saturday night as they host Northern Illinois at Alumni Arena. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
