Women's Volleyball Weekly Release

Player of the Week

Sophomore setter Larissa LaCour (West Islip, NY/West Islip) received player of the week honors for her defensive efforts this wekend as the Bulls went 1-1 in MAC action. Lacour tallied a career-high 11 digs on Friday night (10/9) in a 3-0 loss to Akron, who is undefeated in MAC play. She also had a team and career-high 18 digs in a 3-0 win at Kent on Saturday (10/10).

Bulls Travel to Western; Eastern Michigan This Week

The Bulls travel to Western Michigan (10/15) and Eastern Michigan (10/16) this weekend for Mid-American Conference action. The Bulls are 0-2 against the two schools this season losing to Eastern Michigan on Sept. 21 in five games, 15-6, 15-12, 5-15, 8-15, 9-15 and to Western Michigan on Oct. 2 in three games, 11-15, 11-5, 7-15.

Shiels, Meade Continue to Lead Bulls

Keri Shiels (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) and senior outside hitter Rebecca Meade (Selden, NY/Selden) have been a consistent force this season for the Bulls. Shiels leads the team in kills with a 3.59 per game average while Meade is close behind at 3.34 per game.

Meade leads the Bulls in digs with a 3.66 average and services aces at 0.38 per game.

Shiels has played in a team-high 63 games this season while Meade is second in games played appearing in 61.

UB Captures Another MAC Win

On Saturday, the Bulls picked up its second conference win of the season winning at Kent in three games, 15-12, 15-12, 15-8.

Keri Shiels lead the Bulls attack game with 13 kills while Rebecca Meade added 12 kills and 13 digs in the win. The Bulls moved to 8-9 overall and 2-4 in the MAC with Saturday's win.

Shiels Solid Against Akron

Keri Shiels had an outstanding performance Friday night (10/9) at Akron as she recorded a team-high 14 kills. Shiels was also strong on defense with 13 digs.

Road Blocks

Newcomer Sasha Courbat has made an impact for the Bulls in her first season, particulary at the net where she leads the Bulls in blocks per game with a 0.93 average.

Deschambault Closing in on Assist Record

Somer Deschambault needs 594 assists to become UB's All-Time assists leader. Deschambault currently has 3,254 assists compared to UB's all-time leader Barb Tinus ('87) who has 3,848.

As a sidenote, Deschambault had 1,085 assists in 1998.
